In Forza Horizon 6, the new “treasure cars” are causing confusion: Do those dirty cars really automatically become yours as soon as you clean them up?

Who actually pays for all the fences, trees, and streetlights you pulverize on your way to the next race? And why does a newcomer at the Horizon Festival get a supercar faster than regular people get a rental car at the airport?
Now there’s another question being asked onRedditis currently causing quite a stir: Why do dirty cars in Forza Horizon 6 apparently automatically become yours as soon as you clean them?
The trigger is the new treasure cars. They work a bit like the familiar barn finds, only much stranger: You find a dirty car somewhere in the open world, your companion Mei shows up with her cleaning bucket, the car gets spruced up, and boom—it’s already in your garage.
A Reddit user sums up the confusion pretty succinctly:Isn’t this just car theft?
Car Wash à la GTAWith the classic barn finds, you could still somehow talk yourself into it. There was a rusty car that had been sitting in an abandoned barn for decades; surely someone at the Horizon Festival had spoken to the owner beforehand, or maybe nobody even misses it anymore.
But with the treasure cars in Forza Horizon 6, the whole thing seems even more absurd,because some cars look more like the owner just left them there for a bit. Then you show up, Mei waves her rag, and apparently that’s enough to change ownership.
A few comments sum up the absurd logic of the treasure cars pretty well:
