Highlight of the week: Masters of Albion

Genre: Simulation/Strategy – Developer: 22cans – Release: April 22, 2026 (Steam Early Access)

The magic touch is back—for one last time? According to Peter Molyneux, Masters of Albionis set to be his very last game.

After the bitter disappointments and empty promises surrounding Godus and the mobile experiment Curiosity, the industry legend is now scaling back his ambitions and seemingly returning to the strengths of titles like Populous, Dungeon Keeper, and Black & White.

With the iconic Hand of God, you intervene directly in the affairs of your villages: You can simply assign lazy citizens to their jobs or combine absurd ingredients like chicken and rat into dubious pies in production buildings. The game world of Albion comprises a dozen regions that you can zoom into seamlessly from the world map. You conquer new territories by switching to your heroes’ third-person perspective.

Especially cool for tinkerers:Buildings are freely assembled from individual elements such as goods intake, production, and roof. However, overly complex structures become inefficient. At night, the game also takes on a tower defense vibe when you have to defend your settlement against the undead.

Who is this for? You’ll find out in our Early Access review, of course. But if you want to give Molyneux another chance and optimize production chains, unlock new abilities, and build cities, you should keep an eye on Early Access.
