Season 2 of Battlefield 6 starts on February 17, 2026. After a mixed first season, many fans had high hopes for the new content, but are now disappointed.

Many Battlefield fans are already used to difficulties with new content after release: after all, the supply of new maps, weapons, and vehicles already caused major problems in Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 2042.

But even Battlefield 6 hasn’t gotten off to a good start so far. Although the first season started shortly after release, many fans were dissatisfied with its quality and scope. Now that the details of Season 2 have been announced, fans are losing hope.

That’s just not enough

The reason for the fans’ disappointment is a new blog article by the developers. It explains that, in addition to the new Contaminated map, another map will be released. It is advertised as a map with high intensity and described as an underground base.

So it appears that only two maps will be released in Season 2. One of them will be released at the start of the season on February 17, 2026, and another will likely follow a month later. According to the description, the second map will also be designed for short-range infantry combat.

Since many players wanted more maps and also called for large battlefields for tanks and aircraft, the disappointment is correspondingly great. Battlefield 6 continues to deliver relatively small chunks of content instead of releasing several maps at once.

For example, Zarthere on Reddit criticizes the fact that the developers had previously promised to deliver more content than ever before in a Battlefield game:

So that was a lie.

Two maps […] are the absolute minimum. EA and Dice are probably trying to keep their player base as small as possible.

How can you argue that this release model is better than the premium pass you bought for Battlefield 3 and 4?

At least with that, the developers really put work into high-quality maps instead of creating skins and locking silencers behind 15 hours of gameplay.

Even well-known Battlefield experts are completely dissatisfied:

Two maps per season is simply not enough for Battlefield 6. Previous games such as Battlefield 3 and 4 delivered four maps per DLC, every three months. Players deserve better.

My motivation as a Battlefield creator and player is zero. For years, we have all been giving feedback that post-release support is insufficient for this franchise.

So, before Season 2 starts on February 17, 2026, the mood among fans is pretty bad. Of course, it’s still not certain how well the new content, such as maps and weapons, as well as improvements and bug fixes, will be received by players. The first map of Season 1 was received with anything but positive reviews.

At least Season 2 is supposed to solve problems that have been annoying fans for a long time.
