In Legacy of the Forge, you swing the blacksmith’s hammer, and fans want to know which other games allow them to play as medieval craftsmen.
The GlobalESportNews community was in complete agreement: Legacy of the Forge is the best DLC for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. 71 percent of you found the blacksmith add-on simply awesome in the ranking.
But the rest of the players out there share your taste. On Reddit, one user wanted to know which other games allow you to practice a craft in the Middle Ages.
Still three irons in the fire
Reddit user Ariakoz would prefer Legacy of the Forge to be a standalone game. “I would pay a lot of money for a simulation game where you run a shop in a medieval town, get married, pass the shop on to the next generation, and so on,” explains the player.
Many users agree with him in his thread and even have a few ideas about what could be played next.
Bladesong – The Blacksmith Simulation
The game was recently launched in Early Access on Steam and revolves entirely around the craft of fire and metal. Embedded in a text adventure, you craft blades for your customers.
On your anvil, you shape the swords according to your customers’ orders, from the length and thickness of the blade to its sharpness and the entire handle. You can customize and decorate the weapons in great detail.
Medieval Dynasty – The Medieval Simulation
In this survival role-playing game with lots of crafting, you can build anything from a small farmhouse to a large castle. You can practice various crafts and try to start a family and turn it into a dynasty.
The open-world game can also be played in co-op mode with up to three other players. The main game and some DLCs can be found at on Steam.
Die Gilde – The Economic Simulation
The latest installment, Die Gilde 3 (The Guild 3) from 2022, revolves around you and your family in the late Middle Ages in Europe, just like its two popular predecessors. As a craftsman and merchant, you try to increase your influence and wealth, become a member of a guild, and can even become a city councilor.
However, Guild 3 has only a 57 percent positive rating in the Steam reviews , but only 57 percent of them are positive. However, publisher THQ Nordic is currently working on a reboot of the series called The Guild – Europa 1410, which you can already find at on Steam. However, there is no release date yet.
The three proposals focus on very different aspects of a simulation revolving around blacksmithing and medieval crafts. Bladesong specifically revolves around this one profession, while Medieval Dynasty is a medieval sandbox. The Guild focuses more on the economic and social aspects of a simulation.
