The desert planet Arrakis is unforgiving, and it is precisely this harshness that many players seek in Dune: Awakening. But those who have made it through the first few weeks of the struggle for survival have often hit a glass ceiling. Once the sixth level of equipment was reached, there was a lack of long-term goals in the endgame. Funcom has now announced the third chapter for 2026, which is intended to fill this gap. It is the most extensive update since the game’s release and responds directly to criticism from the community.
At the heart of this is a complete overhaul of the Landsraad system. This political network will now become a cornerstone of the gaming experience. This is flanked by a new specialization system that allows you to customize your character much more individually in the late game. It doesn’t matter whether you prefer to roam the dunes alone or organize yourself into a group. The developers are introducing new mission series and test stations. These stations offer challenges with increasing difficulty, creating a classic spiral of motivation for better rewards.
The combat system is also getting a facelift. With the double blades and the pyrocket, new tools are being added to your arsenal. Particularly interesting is the complete overhaul of the rapier, which now promises more precise handling. Parallel to the free update, Raiders of the Broken Lands is an expansion for builders that delivers an impressive 73 new building pieces in the style of the smugglers.
