For Christmas, Bethesda is giving us—drum roll, please—Skyrim again!  The long-running role-playing game is now available for the Switch 2, as the developers announced with a curious trailer. It features Santa Claus, among others, as well as community icon Shirley Curry. The Switch 2 version comes with several improvements, such as shorter loading times, as well as all DLCs and the contents of the Anniversary Edition.  Those who already own Skyrim on the first Switch will receive the new version as a free upgrade.

The new trailer has been extensively commented on the internet: Most of the jokes are about Todd Howard releasing yet another new version of Skyrim, which is already the seventh release of the role-playing game. Many fans can probably only smile wryly after the foolish hope that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be shown at the Game Awards proved to be a pipe dream a few days ago.

However, some of them interpret a detail in the trailer as a clue. It shows a skill upgrade in which someone increases their speech ability from level 20 to 27. Fans who are counting on a release in 2027 want to see this as confirmation of their hopes.

In addition to jokes, memes, and speculation, there is also already tangible criticism of the Switch 2 port: some players comment that input lag currently makes the new version almost unplayable.
