December 31, 2025, is the deadline for activating the Bluetooth mode of the Stadia controller.

Just three years after the official launch of the Stadia gaming service, Google announced that it would be discontinuing the project. Stadia made it possible to stream games. According to Google, the service fell short of expectations.

This is what happened: Purchasers of a Stadia controller have until the end of the year  last chance to activate the controller’s Bluetooth mode until the end of the year.

Why this is important: Once this mode is activated, the controller can be used with many systems without a USB cable. The only requirement is that it be paired with the system via Bluetooth.

Stadia controllers have a Bluetooth chip, but it is not activated. Only when it is activated is it possible to continue using the controller wirelessly.

The third deadline could be the last

At the beginning of 2023, Google announced that Stadia users would have until the end of the year to activate Bluetooth mode on a specially created website.

However, contrary to its announcement, Google did not shut down the website, but instead extended the deadline to December 31, 2024.

Instead of shutting down the website, Google extended the deadline once again. The current shutdown date is December 31, 2025.

Until that date, Stadia controller users will have the option to activate Bluetooth mode. If they do not do so, only USB cable gaming will be supported.

It is possible that Google will extend the deadline once again. However, controller owners should not rely on this.

To activate the mode, you must visit the page using Google Chrome. The controller must also be connected to the device via a USB data cable.

Controller owners can also check on the page whether the mode is already activated.

Now we want to hear your opinion. Have you used Stadia, or have you preferred to steer clear of the streaming service? Feel free to leave us a comment.
