Until now, there was a glitch in Arc Raiders that allowed you to enter rooms that were supposed to be locked. The new hotfix punishes players who exploit this with a fiery end.
Looting is the be-all and end-all in Arc Raiders. In Embarks’ apocalyptic extraction shooter, the Earth’s surface has become uninhabitable after the collapse of human civilization. Only a few brave raiders dare to venture to the surface again and again to search for raw materials in the ruins of the old world—surrounded by the dangerous Arc.
You can find many of these simply by thoroughly searching the maps along the way. In boxes, cars, desks, and lockers. However, the game often hides the really good stuff in locked rooms. But first you have to get in.
And that’s not so easy, because to open the doors, you usually need a specific key card that is hidden somewhere on the map. Or so you’d think – because resourceful players found a way to outsmart the doors and get into the locked rooms without a key card.
Off to the oven
The key: a so-called glitch. Players placed barricades, noise makers, or other tools with a large hitbox in front of the locked doors so that they could be pushed through the door while building. This is because Arc Raiders often places your character on the other side of the door when there are clipping conflicts.
This still works after the latest patch, so the door glitch has not been fixed. But instead of addressing the root of the problem, the developers have come up with a new treat for players who use unfair means to gain access to rooms they have no business being in.
That’s because the rooms have now been equipped with fiery security systems. If you don’t have the appropriate key card, the flamethrowers on the walls won’t be turned off. If you glitch into the room without a card, you’ll be flambéed in no time, as this video from a Reddit user clearly illustrates.

In the patch notes, the developers state: We have made a very hot fix for the locked room exploits
. And this solution is indeed hot. In any case, the community is taking it with humor and celebrating the developers’ influence in the Reddit thread.
However, the hotfix does not seem to be working quite as well as it could. On Reddit users are also reporting that the flames reach their characters even outside the locked rooms if they walk too close to the corresponding outer wall. A fiery surprise, so to speak.
So it seems that Embark still has some room for improvement in this area. In any case, we will always make sure to pack our key card before approaching such doors in the future.
