The map of GTA 6 remains a mystery to the community, and the north presents fans with several problems.
GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, which was clearly inspired by Florida in the US. Several months ago, fans created a map based on the information and leaks that were available at the time. The result was an island shaped like the US state on the east coast, but even then there was a lot of uncertainty about the northern part of the map.

In reality, Florida borders the state of Georgia. This also exists in the fictional world of Grand Theft Auto under the name Gloriana.
Fans currently assume that Leonida is more of an island with an unspecified northern connection to Gloriana. However, a sentence on the official website has some people doubting this, as this Reddit post shows:
Land border confirmed on official website?

Rockstar’s website describes some areas in more detail, including Mount Kalaga, which is located north of Leonida. One text mentions a “national landmark on the northern border of the state.”
Now there is speculation as to whether this is a land border. Until now, GTA maps have generally been islands. There has never been a wide border where the game world basically ends.
Reddit user hyenaspirits bases his theory on marketing material from before the release of GTA 5. When referring to locations in the north of the map, these were described as “located on the north coast of the state (not on the border)”.
But…
There is a lot of discussion in the comments about how to implement a huge land border in the game itself without simply letting players run into an invisible wall – those days are over.
A strong counterargument is provided by Tahiti–Bob, who states that ”Coasts can also be referred to as borders.” Because there is no mention of a land border anywhere, only a “northern border.” Whether this runs over land or water is therefore unclear.
However, the topic of land borders is not completely ruled out, so the statement on the Rockstar website is probably not an argument in favor of this. The existence of the state of Gloriana has already been proven; the only question is whether it will be a place that players can travel to and how it could be connected to the Leonida map.
