The two maps, New Sobek City and Badlands, are apparently making a good first impression.
Gameplay footage has once again leaked from the current version of Battlefield Labs – but this time, we get to see maps from Battlefield 6 that we haven’t seen in the beta. The initial reactions from the community have been overwhelmingly positive.
What has been leaked?
Gameplay from two new maps is now available on various Chinese video platforms and on Reddit:
- Badlands: A sprawling map set in the oil fields of California with plenty of open space for vehicles (you can see helicopters, jets, and tanks in the video). The hilly landscape, small buildings, and containers provide cover for infantry. Badlands is scheduled to appear in Season 1 and is not part of the launch lineup.
- New Sobek City: A medium-sized map set in Egypt, like the Cairo map from the beta. Several tall buildings in the center give the map a very urban feel, although there are significantly more open areas than in Cairo. The layout is rather elongated and comparable to Liberation Peak.
Note: The video shows a match against bots with numerous customizations, such as a fully automatic rocket launcher. These are custom settings created via BF Portal; of course, this is not possible in normal multiplayer.
What are the reactions?
Many fans are enthusiastic about the leaked scenes despite their mediocre video quality. One player commented on New Sobek City: “Looks like the Gulf of Oman.”
This is high praise among BF connoisseurs, as Gulf of Oman is considered an absolute classic among Battlefield maps, having been reissued several times since its debut in BF2 (including in BF3 and BF4).

Badlands is also receiving effusive praise: “It looks so damn good,” writes one user, another agrees: “I love the colors on this map.”
Thanks to the beta, leaks, and trailers, almost all of the BF6 maps are now known. On Reddit, one user summarizes on Reddit: “In my opinion, Sobek City, Cairo, and Mirak have what it takes to become classics and beautifully demonstrate this mix of small, medium, and large maps.”
Mirak is the largest map in the Battlefield 6 release and is admired by fans for its dark BF1 atmosphere.
How many maps are there?
At launch on October 10, 2025, Battlefield 6 will offer a total of 9 maps, including a remake of the popular Operation Firestorm map.
New maps are to be added in the form of free updates in subsequent seasons. For comparison, BF2042 launched with 7 maps, Battlefield 5 with 8 maps, and Battlefield 1 with 9 maps on their respective release dates.
During and after the beta, Battlefield 6 was criticized by parts of the community for providing (too) small maps for testing.
DICE then tried to smooth things over and promised that there would also be large battlefields with plenty of space for vehicles at launch.
