After more and more rumours surfaced among fans, Activision is now officially taking a stand on a potential remaster of Modern Warfare 3.

Leakers have been spreading rumours for months that Activision is working on a remaster of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3”, which was released in 2011. However, a spokesperson for the developer denied this rumour to the CoD portal Charlie Intel.

Activision stated, “The plan for a remaster of Modern Warfare 3 does not exist as either campaign or multiplayer. Any reports that say otherwise are false.”

A big disappointment for fans, as the community was hoping the third part of the Modern Warfare trilogy would also get a remaster like its two predecessors.

The 2011 title Modern Warfare 3 introduced some new concepts in multiplayer, including the Specialist Strike Package. In addition, the campaign included iconic missions such as defending the US city of New York from Russian invaders.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from 2007 had also received a remaster that was part of a special bundle in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in 2016. The remaster included both the single-player campaign and all multiplayer modes.

Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 also received a remaster from developer Activision when the campaign was released as a standalone with Modern Warfare 2019 and Warzone in 2020.

It seems Activision has no more plans for further remaster releases and is instead focusing on releasing new Call of Duty titles every year.
