The anticipation – and the price question that has everyone buzzing

Hardly any other game has been the subject of so much discussion in recent years as GTA 6. It is already considered perhaps the most anticipated open-world adventure in gaming history. Trailer analyses, rumors about the story, and heated discussions about the release date fill forums and news sites every day. But one question is now preoccupying fans almost as much as the plot: How much will this mammoth project cost in the end?

The gaming world has grown accustomed to rising prices, but GTA 6 could reach new heights. Rumors have been circulating for some time that the price could break the magical $100 barrier – an amount that would be unusually high even for today’s blockbuster games.

Insider speaks plainly – and the wait will be longer

For Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Securities, the matter is clear: “I expect a price of $100. It will be incredibly profitable.” According to his forecast, Rockstar Games could earn a total of over $10 billion with the title – plus huge additional profits from GTA Online. This would mean that GTA 6 would not only break records in terms of development costs, but also set new standards in terms of sales price.

Although these figures have not been officially confirmed, Pachter’s assessment is in line with other industry voices. The fact that publisher Take-Two Interactive does not plan to release the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S until May 26, 2026, is further fueling speculation. It is unclear whether a PC version will follow soon, but given the history of GTA, this is likely only a matter of time.

The combination of a long development time, enormous production costs, and the sheer market power of Rockstar Games leaves one question unanswered: Are fans willing to dig so deep into their pockets – or will even GTA eventually reach a pain threshold?
