The theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash is approaching, and it’s slowly time for a trailer! It’s coming soon, along with concrete information and an official poster.
On December 17, 2025, master director James Cameron will once again attempt a small cinema revolution. That’s when Avatar 3: Fire and Ash hits the big screen, leaving sci-fi fans wondering: When will the first trailer be released?
Don’t worry: very soon. Very soon, to be precise. The trailer for Avatar 3 will be shown before screenings of Fantastic Four: First Steps, which hits German theaters on July 24, 2025.
This has already been announced on the first official poster for Fire and Ash, which gives us a glimpse of the film’s new villain: Varang (Oona Chaplin from Game of Thrones) – the leader of the Na’vi clan Mangkwan (also known as Ash People).

What does the first trailer for Avatar 3 show?
At the same time, the preview of the return to Pandora is also likely to land on the internet. With press screenings for Fantastic Four currently taking place, the first descriptions of what the trailer for Avatar 3 shows have already appeared.
Here is the most important information:
- In Avatar 3, the greatest threat to Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) is not humans, but the Na’vi of the Mangkawn clan, who are completely devoted to fire.
- The first trailer for Fire and Ash focuses primarily on the Sully family dynamics and how they are affected by the burgeoning conflict. For example, we see Spider (Jack Champion), who is welcomed with open arms by Jake but later rejected by Lo’ak (Britain Dalton).
- After Avatar 2 was all about water, Avatar 3 is dedicated to the theme of fire, as can be seen in the first trailer: various shots show volcanoes or landscapes covered in ash. The fiery element is also symbolized by discussions about hatred, conflict, and war.
- A battle breaks out between the water tribe and the fire Na’vi – the latter have a grayer, ash-covered design.
- A final shot of a spaceship teases that we may be leaving the atmosphere of Pandora for the first time in a long time.
We should be able to see the first trailer for Avatar 3: Fire and Ash in the coming days.
Incidentally, James Cameron currently has at least five Avatar films planned.
After Fire and Ash hits theaters on December 17, 2025, Part 4 is scheduled to follow in 2029 and Part 5 in 2032. Cameron will once again take the helm as director, but the legendary filmmaker has also teased new film projects outside of Avatar.
