Konami fulfils the wishes of the FIFA community in their own simulation. A strong move to finally get into the top games lists.

FIFA could actually get competition this year, which can also be reflected in bare figures. The competition comes from KONAMI, but is not called PES 2022, but efootball.

According to KONAMI, the name should also be the programme. Because while FIFA 22 promises with a new slogan “powered by football” that the football simulation from North America will be as real as never before, Konami goes one step further:

To ensure that truly all football fans can enjoy the ultimate football action, eFootball™ is free to play on multiple devices!

Who goes with the times, goes Free2Play
Konami had already realised last year that modern multiplayer online games are offered for free and can be financed much better via microtransactions. While only part of PES was offered for free in 2020, KONAMI opted for a digital-only Free2Play concept this year.

FIFA dreams united in efootball
Konami has been trying to make up for a major disadvantage for years – a lack of licences. However, buying away its own deficits has not proved to be very efficient so far. The new approach: New branding efootball, combining FIFA dreams. A Free2Play title that is playable across platforms and does not have to be bought anew every year.

Is KONAMI catching up with EA Sports now?
So what can we now expect in the autumn? Is the football simulation market turning 180 degrees? I very much doubt it. Even though many get upset with FIFA every year, EA Sports expertly ignites the hype within the FIFA community at summer time. Hypermotion technology here, significant changes in various modes there and you get the feeling that you are on the verge of a FIFA revolution.

Hopefully FIFA 22 will be better than FIFA 21.

Speaking of hype: We know very little about FIFA 22 at the moment and that’s exactly why the hype is so big. How have the modes been adapted? Will the game really be smoother? We will find out all this at the latest with the release. Hopefully FIFA 22 will be better than FIFA 21. But we have this thought every summer.

Compared to its predecessor, the performance always automatically sparks an intention to buy, as PES, or now efootball, from KONAMI is not an option for most gamers.

This year, that could change.
This summer, however, feels a little different. The reasoning of many in the FIFA community that they have no alternative to FIFA no longer holds true. But that’s not because efootball is going to be the best game ever, it’s because every single person who is unhappy with FIFA can at least take a look at efootball without having to spend any money.

Many FIFA fans will additionally download efootball to their disc

In the download figures, moreover, this could become clear for the first time. Let’s not kid ourselves: FIFA 22 will be at the top of the TOP 20 PC and console games, just like FIFA 21. efootball, however, could also fight its way up the list for the first time, as PES never appeared here before.

KONAMI fans will certainly not buy FIFA, but many FIFA fans will also download efootball. As a FIFA fan, I count myself among them as well.
