We’ll show you step by step how to unlock mirror mode in Mario Kart World and how to use it in the overworld.
You’ve already spent countless hours in Mario Kart World, know every curve by heart, and even the 150cc class doesn’t get your pulse racing anymore? Then we have just the thing for you!
Because hidden deep within the game is a challenge that will make even the most experienced kart veterans break a sweat:mirror mode! But what exactly is it and, more importantly, how do you unlock it? We’ll show you step by step.
How to unlock Mirror Mode
Before we get to the unlocking, a quick explanation for all newcomers:Mirror Mode is basically exactly what it sounds like: It takes all the tracks you think you know and mirrors them horizontally. A sharp right turn suddenly becomes a left turn, and the shortcut you used to take blindly is now on the other side.
However, the path to hidden mode is no walk in the park; it requires you to master a large part of the game. The community is not yet 100 percent in agreement about the exact conditions, but a clear path has emerged that reliably leads to success.
Here are the steps you need to take:
- Complete all cups:You must complete all seven Grand Prix cups and all eight Knockout Tours at least once. Most players recommend doing this in the 150cc class. Your ranking doesn’t seem to matter much. The main thing is that you’ve played through everything once.
- Collect diligently in the overworld:The trickiest part involves the collectibles in the
Free Ride
mode. There are slightly different reports on this, but the most common method is as follows:- Find ten Peach Medals
- Activate ten ? plates
- Complete ten P-Switch missions
- The final step:Once you’ve completed all of the above, there’s just one last step left. Play through the Special Cup again in 150cc mode.If all conditions are met, a message will appear after the credits roll, congratulating you on unlocking Mirror Mode.
After that, the new mode will be available in Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, and Versus mode.
Bonus tip: Mirror mode in outdoor driving
The huge overworld of Mario Kart World can also be mirrored, but it works a little differently here. Drive to Peach Stadium and go to the roof of the castle. There you will see the large stained glass windows showing Peach. Now simply drive through one of these windows. After a short animation, you will find yourself in a mirror-image world.
However, this effect is not permanent. If you close the game or drive through the window again, the world will return to normal.
