Information, images, and videos keep leaking from the closed playtests of the next Battlefield. A new clip shows the destructible maps in detail.

Games often give us weapons with enormous destructive power, such as rocket launchers or mini atomic bombs. While we normally use them to reduce our opponents to fine dust, the explosions rarely have a visible or noticeable effect on the game world.

The Battlefield series, which is known for its destructible maps, among other things, does things differently. In Battlefield 6, cars, furniture, and houses are once again destroyed by gunfire and explosions. A leaked video now shows how this works in the current test version.

Explosive demolition squad

In just under five minutes, a player skillfully demolishes half a map: hits with an anti-tank missile cause entire house facades to crumble or tear large holes in walls. The explosions send debris raining down in all directions, destroying or damaging nearby cars, market stalls, and street lamps.

But even without heavy equipment, there is plenty to destroy. Smaller elements such as air conditioners, fans, and even lamps shatter after just one hit with a pistol or rifle.

If you look closely, however, you can also see the limits of the map destruction. Washing machines and some other furniture seem to be virtually indestructible. Stairwells also appear to be very sturdy. This is probably to ensure that destroyed buildings remain accessible.

Official destruction details

In addition to the numerous leaks, there is also official information about how destruction will work in the next Battlefield, namely from a blog entry by the developers.

Among other things, new sound effects will make it possible to tell whether a building or wall can actually be destroyed by gunfire. If you damage the target, initial damage will also be visible before a wall collapses completely. In addition, debris from destroyed buildings will remain on the battlefield and can be used as cover. However, not much of this was visible in the video.

Of course, we won’t know how extensive the destruction will really be until the game is finished. Since Battlefield 6 is still being tested, a lot can change before its release. The shooter is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2026 at the latest, but a release in November 2025 is more likely.
