With Borderlands 4, the crazy shooter series is heading for its next big appearance. Fans can expect an explosive reunion with crazy weapons, wacky characters, and the series’ signature mix of action and dark humor. Gearbox promises to continue developing the series with new ideas – while retaining the quirky comic book look and colorful chaos that the series is famous for.

Back to chaos – but not everyone is coming

In addition to its lead-filled gameplay, “Borderlands” thrives above all on its characters. Personalities such as the tirelessly chattering Claptrap have long since won the hearts of the community. The scenario also remains unique: a wild mix of sci-fi, Western romance, and an apocalyptic feel, somewhere between Mad Max and an Italian Western.

The enormous variety of weapons is also a central element once again. In the first installment of the series, procedurally generated weapons already provided countless combinations – a concept that is likely to provide tactical depth and moments of surprise in the upcoming installment as well.

But while much remains the same, changes are also emerging in the background. And one of them concerns a character who, for many, is inextricably linked to the DNA of the series.

Fan favorite apparently left out

What initially sounds like an insignificant detail could turn out to be a painful blow for long-time fans: Tiny Tina, the crazy explosives expert with chaotic charm, will probably not be returning in Borderlands 4. Actress Ashly Burch, who has lent her distinctive voice to the character since the second installment, said she has not been contacted yet – a clear indication that she will not be appearing in the new game.

Tina has been much more than just a supporting character in recent years. Her hyperactive nature, shrill remarks, and explosive interludes made her an indispensable part of the Borderlands universe. She even got her own spin-off with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – a success that underscored her status as a fan favorite.

Her absence now raises questions. Why is Gearbox doing away with one of the most popular characters in the series? Is this a creative reorientation or are there internal reasons? The studio has not yet made an official statement.

One thing is clear: expectations for Borderlands 4 remain high – but the departure of Tiny Tina could leave even the most loyal fans with a bitter taste in their mouths.
