Following the success of Drova, which was voted best indie game of 2024 by GlobalESportNews readers, developer Just2D has given a first glimpse of Project Topas
Although it is still unclear whether this will be a direct sequel or a new IP, the developer video already gives some insight into the concept behind it. Topas is set to be another 2D pixel art role-playing game with an open world, built on the Drova engine and incorporating lots of player feedback.
Important improvements include a more dynamic combat system, deeper character and story elements, and the ability to play a full-fledged mage. The level design will be less convoluted and therefore clearer. There will also be a focus on immersion through a crime system and different player styles, without introducing fixed classes.
Fast travel and more content in the late game, based on community requests, are also planned. To develop Project Topaz, the team is growing by two new members who will work on quest, game, and level design. There is no release date yet.
