Lip-Bu Tan is the new CEO of Intel.
At the beginning of December 2024, Intel announced the resignation of CEO Pat Gelsinger in order to focus more on its own products and product leadership in the future.
On an interim basis, the two managers David Zisner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus took over the management of the company.
This is what happened: In a press release Intel has presented Lip-Bu Tan as the group’s new CEO. Tan will take on the leadership role in the company from March 18 and will then also be a member of the board again.
Meet Intel’s new CEO
Lip-Bu Tan is a three-degree CEO. In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering, he also has a degree in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco.
With more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and software industry as an investor and executive, Tan is said to have already shown how to revitalize a company as CEO of Cadence Design Systems.
As CEO, he is said to have been largely responsible for doubling sales.
Learning from mistakes
Under Tan’s leadership, Intel is once again to become more of a technology-oriented company. For Tan, the customer is at the forefront.
We will strive to develop the best products, listen carefully to our customers and keep our promises so that we can build trust.
Tan describes his own work philosophy with the words “Stay humble – work hard – delight customers”.
Tan promises to learn from past mistakes and create a “new Intel” to realize its full potential.
Intel has recently had to deal with a number of product issues. The new CEO is likely to focus on the semiconductor factory business, as well as problems with processors and graphics cards. Together, they will restore Intel’s position as a manufacturer of world-class products, establish world-class factories, and “delight customers like never before”.
