With Comet, Perplexity will be putting AI in the foreground. There is already a waiting list.

The AI startup Perplexity has so far mainly attracted attention by combining AI and search. In the future, a browser is to be added to the main products.

That happened: Perplexity has announced the browser Comet on X (formerly Twitter).

So far, little is known about the browser. Perplexity describes it as a browser that relies on AI agents in conjunction with search.

Good to know: AI agents enable the execution of autonomous processes. They can make decisions independently and execute actions desired by the user themselves.

The Comet browser will be based on Chromium, which is also the basis of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave and many other browsers. This is according to a job ad in which Perplexity is looking for an experienced C++ developer familiar with Chromium.

The job ad also reveals that the browser will support both desktop and mobile devices.

This is how you sign up for the waiting list

Perplexity has set up a waiting list. You can sign up for it to get early access to the browser.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Comet website in your browser.
  2. Enter an email address on the website.
  3. Click the “Join Waitlist” button.

You will receive an email upon successful registration. This email will tell you that you can increase your chances of early participation by sharing on social media. You must link to Perplexity in the message.

Perplexity says that new users are admitted to the Comet beta weekly.

Now it’s your turn. What do you think of the idea of integrating more AI features and AI agents into browsers? Do you see advantages or disadvantages? Feel free to leave us a comment.
