Don’t expect any major gameplay changes this time, but annoying technical bugs will be tackled.

For the team at GSC Game World, 2025 starts as 2024 ended: with lots of patches for Stalker 2. The post-apocalyptic shooter may be incredibly atmospheric, but technically it’s about as stable and mature as a Jenga tower, as our review of the release shows.

Patch 1.1.4 is now live and fixes some serious bugs. However, most of them don’t deal with gameplay, such as the AI function A Life, which still doesn’t work properly, but with the game’s performance. It also eliminates the causes of crashes, of which there are almost as many in virtual Chernobyl as there are anomalies.

The complete release notes are not available on page 2 as usual, but rather here on the spot due to their brevity. We will now turn to the highlights of the patch.

Patch 1.1.4 info and highlights

The update is 13.05 gigabytes in size. As usual, the software patch will be automatically downloaded and installed by your Steam client, so you don’t have to do a thing.

The focus of patch 1.1.4 is a better shader compilation at startup This is annoying anyway because it makes you wait every time. But it’s even worse when Stalker 2 suddenly freezes during compilation and you have to start over from the beginning.

GSC Game World has addressed this issue with patch 1.1.4. In addition, a memory leak has been plugged that could previously spoil your gaming fun in Rostok.

The complete patch notes at a glance

A list of all changes introduced by patch 1.1.4 is quickly created:

  • Fixed crashes and freeze on shaders compilation
  • Fixed memory leak occurred at Rostok location
  • Fixed performance degradation when shooting/aiming on saves with long playtime
  • Implemented fixes, that should solve the problem causing saves to be lost on Xbox
  • Fixed a random crash related to UI animations.

As you can see, we will have to wait a few more weeks for the next big update for Stalker 2. But there is no exact date or even concrete information about it yet.

If you want to explore the irradiated zone without frustration, you should take a look at our cheat guide linked in the box above. There we have put together some codes that, among other things, give you infinite money or even invulnerability.

Despite the technical glitches, Stalker 2 is already a success for GSC Game World and publisher Microsoft. The shooter has already sold over two million copies, and on top of that, many more players are likely to enjoy the title via Game Pass.
