The early access release of Space Engineers 2 is just around the corner, and the developers are releasing a trailer about the roadmap with new content.

On January 27, 2025, the so-called Vertical Slice 1 will start with the creative mode and the VRAGE3 engine. After that, the Steam Workshop, modding support, planets and survival mechanics and finally water (Vertical Slice 3) will be added bit by bit. The typical bug fixes and minor improvements that are part of an early access development are of course included.

Build less, shoot more: Star Citizen takes off with Alpha 4.0

At the bottom of the priority list, on the other hand, is the story campaign, which, together with computer-controlled NPCs and the multiplayer mode, is not supposed to be added until later. Developer Keen Software House has not given any specific dates for the individual vertical slices. But there is still plenty of time before the final release: Version 1.0 of Space Engineers 2 is currently expected in 2027.
