The winner of the FYNG Indie Award has been chosen. With a lead of over 500 votes, Planet Defense Cannon Commander has won

At gamescom 2024, there were once again numerous new games to see. Of course, we reported on the big new games such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but we didn’t want to neglect the smaller titles either. In the FYNG Indie Award, you were therefore able to vote on five nominated games and choose your winner. The nominees were:

  • Drova: Forsaken Kin
  • EcoGnomix
  • Morriton Manor Stories: Nordic Whispers
  • PVKK: Planet Defense Canon Commander
  • Tavern Keeper

The winner of our award has now been announced: It is,Drumroll… PVKK: Planet Defense Canon Commander! We’ll show you the game again briefly, but as the winner of the Indie Award, it will soon also be presented to you in more detail.

This is the winner

In Planet Defense Cannon Commander you play exactly what the overlong title promises. You inhabit a bunker and have to operate and maintain a huge cannon on behalf of an autocratic regime. You use it to defend the planet against an invasion and protect your home world from unknown attackers

You operate a variety of devices and consoles, move levers, turn wheels and press buttons. Because it’s not just about firing your cannon. You also have to scan the environment for enemy spaceships, calculate trajectories and maintain energy generators.

In the course of the game, you can also decide to question the orders and motivations of your superiors. What is really going on outside the bunker? What secrets are waiting to be discovered inside the building? And are you really the good guys in the story?
