With the upcoming role-playing game Dragon Age: The Veilguard, we are in for a true epic that will not only shine with its story, but above all with its multitude of dialog and characters. BioWare, known for its deep narratives and complex characters, takes the gaming experience to a new level. The game surpasses its predecessors in many ways, especially in the amount of dialog players can expect.

InDragon Age: The Veilguardis said to contain around 140,000 lines of dialog, making it the studio’s most conversational game. By comparison, its predecessorDragon Age: Inquisitioncontained significantly less, although it was already known for its extensive storytelling. This abundance of dialog promises to provide players with a more immersive experience by allowing them to delve deeper into the world and the characters’ stories. Creative Director John Epler emphasizes that the process of recording the voices for around 700 characters was a lengthy one, but necessary to ensure the quality and depth of the game.

An impressive ensemble: diversity of characters

Another outstanding feature ofDragon Age: The Veilguardis the sheer number and variety of characters that populate the game. A total of around 700 characters have been developed for the game, each with their own stories and motivations. The casting process began five years ago. This shows how much care went into the selection of the voice actors. Of particular interest is the character Rook, for whom there are four different voices in the English version to cover both British and American English.

The decision to incorporate different accents and ways of speaking shows the high standards that BioWare places on the authenticity and diversity of the game world. This not only allows players to experience a rich and diverse world, but also to identify more strongly with the characters by getting to know a wider range of cultural backgrounds and personalities through the different language styles and nuances.
