The film adaptation of Borderlands will be released in cinemas at the end of August. Lionsgate released the final trailer yesterday to boost the hype ahead of the movie’s release. The trailer shows us action-packed scenes peppered with the usual dash of chaos.
In the Borderlands film, we meet an impressive star cast. Cate Blanchett takes on the role of the feared bounty hunter Lilith. Fighting alongside her are Kevin Hart as the mercenary Roland, Ariana Greenblatt as the prepubescent sadist Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu as her protector Krieg, Jamie Lee Curtis as the versatile scientist Tannis and Jack Black as the humorous robot Claptrap. The Borderlands film is directed by Eli Roth, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Crombie.
While the movie’s plot is based on ideas and characters from the games, it is set in an alternate Borderlands universe that differs significantly from the storyline of the games. This allows the filmmakers to break new ground and tell fresh stories that are exciting for both fans of the games and newcomers alike.
Although initial reactions to the Borderlands film have been mixed, final opinions will not be known until after the premiere on August 9, 2024. On this date, the movie will be available in the USA. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until August 22nd
The comments under the trailer, however, are anything but enthusiastic. Users don’t seem to be able to understand why the filmmakers made certain decisions. In particular, many fans of the games seem to dislike the fact that Kevin Hart has been cast as Roland
