The hotly anticipated Life by You pulls the emergency brake at the last moment and postpones its release indefinitely

Fans of life simulations à la The Sims must be strong now:Life By Youhas been postponed again. Just two weeks before the planned launch of Early Access on June 4, publisher Paradox Interactive and developer studio Paradox Tectonic announced that the release will be delayed for an indefinite period of time.

The third postponement

This is already the third postponement for Life By You:Originally the game was supposed to be released in September 2023, was then postponed to March 2024 and finally to June 4. Now, in the last month before the planned Early Access launch, the game has been postponed again, this time without a new release date.

The reason: According to the developers, the game simply needs more development time – so much so that it is not yet foreseeable when the Sims rival will be in a sufficiently good state.

CEO Mattias Lilja commentedon the Paradox forumas follows:

Hello everyone, after careful consideration, we regret to inform you that we have decided to postpone the release date of Life by You, originally scheduled for June 4.

This was not an easy decision to make, especially as we understand the anticipation and excitement many players have for the game. However, we believe that additional development time is needed.

Although we would have preferred to commit to a new release window, we think it makes more sense to wait with the planning than to commit to a new date that we don’t know if we can meet.

We will provide further information as soon as possible. In the meantime, we thank you for your support and patience.

Although the postponement has dampened anticipation somewhat, this decision is probably the only right one: Paradox’s last major simulation game Cities Skylines 2 got off to a more than bumpy start and had to be brought back on track with numerous patches.

There is no doubt that the Sims series has long been in need of serious competition. But Life by You is not the only rival in development. Paralives and Korea’s InZoi also fancy their chances of usurping EA’s throne.
