Enlisted is actually a Free2Play shooter that was released years ago, but was re-released as a paid game on Steam

The MMO shooter Enlisted has been playable for free on PC, PlayStation and Xbox for three years now. On March 28, the game was also released on Steam, but as Enlisted: Reinforced, which can only be played by purchasing an “Early Access Pack” with a price of 20 euros

Enlisted must stop Steam sales

It took less than 24 hours for publisher Gaijin Games (known for War Thunder) to take the game off sale again. This is what happened:

Players criticize the sudden price

The Steam version is identical in terms of content to the one that was and still is playable via a separate launcher on the PC. In the Steam reviews, some fans are therefore complaining that they now have to pay for the shooter

In addition to game access, the DLC also contains some additional content such as some in-game currency and seven days of premium account status. Nevertheless,43 percent of the reviews are negative and criticize the sudden costs for the actual Free2Play game.

Technical problems with the linking of accounts

The second point of criticism comes from players who are already familiar with the Free2Play version. The linking of the accounts is currently faulty, which means that veterans cannot use all of their progress on Steam

According to a Steam post by the developers this problem occurs when a player has already linked their Steam account to another game by Gaijin and has used a different email address there than for Enlisted.

Developers apologize

In the Steam post just mentioned, the developers also apologize for the problems and announce that sales have already been stopped. Anyone who has already purchased Enlisted on Steam should be able to continue playing it, but there is no mention of an extraordinary right of return

According to the developers, the Steam version was not intended to be “available to a large number of players”. It is possible that Enlisted: Reinforced was possibly intended to attract new players rather than bring regular players to Steam, but no further details are given.

What will happen with the Steam release of Enlisted: Reinforced, Gaijin Games has not yet revealed. They merely say that they are exploring the possibilities on Valve’s platform and looking for a solution to the technical problem.
