The surprisingly successful co-op shooter continues to be plagued by technical problems. A new update should now provide a remedy

While player numbers on Steam continue to rise around two weeks after release, the developers of the co-op shooter are still trying to eliminate technical problems. Helldivers 2 is now receiving a new patch that fixes some crashes and improves matchmaking. You can find an overview of all the changes here

What’s in the new update?

In the rather small patch there are only nine changes in total, which we will briefly list:

  • Fixed three different crashes that occurred with certain elements of ragdoll physics, map destruction and the display of mission rewards.
  • Fixed a bug with quickplay matchmaking on PC.
  • Adjusted the difficulty of the mission where you have to rescue a civilian.
  • Improvements to platform authentication solve issues such as the black screen when starting the game.
  • Improvements to the client should ensure better performance
  • If the quickplay matchmaking fails, an automatic mechanism ensures a new connection attempt.
  • An error has now been assigned a correct error message.

While the update is fairly small, it addresses some of the most pressing issues with crashes and matchmaking. The update also contains preparatory measures for another central problem – the insufficient server capacity

Since its release, the servers of Helldivers 2 have been groaning under the unexpected rush of players. The developers recently even had to limit the maximum number of players in order to improve the game’s stability. At the same time, they are working on permanently increasing the server capacity

to ensure that all players have access without any problems.

While the co-op shooter itself is generating enthusiasm among many players, there is also a lot of discontent about the technical problems that are currently still causing problems. The overloaded servers in particular are causing numerous negative reviews on Steam, for example. On Twitter, lead developer Johan Pilestedt has even advised players to hold off on buying the game
