The prison building game is getting a sequel – with 3D graphics and smarter inmates. The release won’t be long in coming

Over eight years after the release of its predecessor, the time has come: with Prison Architect 2 the acclaimed prison-building game – 90 percent positive Steam reviews after over 50,000 ratings – is getting a proper sequel.

And it’s clear at first glance that this is a real evolution – because Prison Architect 2 is hardly recognizable.

This is what awaits you in Prison Architect 2

New 3D visuals: One of the main features of the new title is the introduction of 3D graphics, which should literally take the sequel to a new level, not only visually but also in terms of gameplay. The 3D graphics will allow you to build your prisons on multiple floors in the future and have access to many new tools during construction.

You can get a first impression of what the successor will look like in our screenshot gallery:

Smarter inmates: Inmates form relationships, make friends or become rivals, which should have a direct impact on prison life. Every decision you make should also have an impact on the prisoners

Career mode: Prison Architect 2’s expanded career mode promises more than just building and managing a prison. With a brand new world map and various scenarios, the mode is designed to present you with a variety of challenges

When will Prison Architect 2 be released?

In case you can’t wait to build your own prison again: You won’t have to wait too much longer! Prison Architect 2 will be released on March 26, 2024 on Steam, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 and will cost you 40 euros. You can now add the title to your wishlist on the (Steam store page

Now it’s up to you: do you fancy putting your skills to the test as a prison warden in a literally completely new dimension? How do you like the leap from the second to the third dimension? And what other hopes do you have for the newly announced sequel? Let us know in the comments section!
