The city-building simulation has to pay tribute to the bumpy launch and is postponing some planned DLCs in order to focus on the main game

Cities: Skylines 2 seemed like the almost certain construction hit of 2023 a few months ago. Then the game was released and made a name for itself more with its technical problems than with unbridled construction fun. A few weeks ago, the developers were already thinking out loud about whether they would have to take drastic measures

Now there is a roadmap on how to proceed in the future. And it doesn’t just have good news up its sleeve either. We break down for you when which measures and content are planned for Cities: Skylines 2

Some DLCs are now definitely delayed

(On Steam) the development team of Colossal Order has published an updated roadmap. On it you can see: Two of the three previously announced additional contents will be delayed

The new roadmap provides for the following dates:

  • Asset Pack (Beach Properties): Q1 2024 (instead of Q4 2023)
  • Creator Packs (Modern Architecture and Urban Promenades): Q2 2024 (instead of Q1 2024)
  • There seems to be no change to the expansion planned for mid-2024 so far

What about the editor and modding tools? Don’t worry, they seem to be on the right track. At least there is no talk of any delays. In the official (Paradox-Forum) the team writes that feedback from beta testers is still being collected and implemented. However, no exact date is given

And what about the console versions? There is also a short statement from CEO Mariina Hallikainen about the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, which reads as follows:

Once the PC version is where we want it to be, we will focus on the console release and the DLC content

Did you buy Cities: Skylines 2 at release? If so, what is your verdict on the current state of the game? Can you enjoy it without any major problems and are you satisfied? Or do you shake your head at the numerous bugs? Which areas do you think need to be addressed first? Let us know in the comments!
