The World of Warcraft community can rejoice in a significant return as Chris Metzen, a true legend in the world of Warcraft, has rejoined Blizzard Entertainment on board. Metzen, considered one of the creative minds behind the Warcraft franchise, helped shape much of the game’s original storyline and characters. After retiring from the industry several years ago for personal reasons, he has now accepted a new position at Blizzard that goes far beyond an advisory role.

Metzen’s previous role at Blizzard was primarily advisory, helping the team come up with fresh ideas for the World of Warcraft story and discussing them with his colleagues. But now he is taking on a full-time position in the Warcraft universe as “Executive Creative Director.” This means that he will be significantly involved in the creative process of designing the storyline and characters. It is emphasized that Metzen is not only working for World of Warcraft, but for the entire Warcraft universe, which could possibly have an impact on other Blizzard games such as Hearthstone or the upcoming Warcraft Rumble (Mobile)

Fans can especially look forward to the upcoming BlizzCon in November where Chris Metzen will be a spokesperson for the Warcraft team. There, he will presumably share the latest developments and projects, with little doubt that this will primarily be the next addon for World of Warcraft. Chris Metzen thus returns to the world of Warcraft with full passion and creative input, which looks promising for the future of the game and the entire Warcraft universe.
