Social media fever is also spreading in the city-building simulation. When your residents post something, you can even like it as mayor

Likes, likes, likes – in the vastness of social media, it feels like the only thing that matters is that your mental outpourings meet with as much approval as possible. And even in Cities: Skylines 2 you’re not immune to this madness, because there Chirper

This is the news service known from the predecessor, which has a blue bird as its mascot. Does this look familiar to you? Sure, the parallels to the service formerly called Twitter and now called X cannot be overlooked.

It’s not a bug – it’s a feature!

A bug has now made Chirper even better than originally intended. Instead of fixing the bug, it has been promoted to the rank of a feature.

Chirper can be used by you as a city maestro to better identify the wishes, concerns and needs of your inhabitants. For example, if a particular cultural facility is desired, residents will post about it on social media. If the drinking water stinks, they will too. Then you can respond to it by fixing the problems.

You can also be a really cool mayor and like the posts of your citizens. Which brings us to the bug that was mentioned: This possibility was not originally planned.

According to an (interview with PCGamesN) with game designer Henri Haimakainen, the development team at Colossal Order liked it so much that they simply left this accidental feature in the game.

It is still unclear whether your own social media activity will have an impact. Maybe the citizens will grumble at some point when they realise that their leader prefers to hand out Likes instead of working!

Liked you…um, do you like the idea of connecting with your residents via social media? Or will your thoughts only revolve around how to turn your small town into a gigantic metropolis as quickly as possible? Do you need such social media functionalities in the game at all? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
