Update 2.0 will unlock some new features of Phantom Liberty for free for owners of the main game. We have the overview for you.

On 26 September 2023, we can all return to Night City – and for good reason: Because that’s when the big DLC Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk 2077 will be released, which will bring buyers numerous new features such as a fresh city district, a revised skill system and much more.

But some features will even be available to all fans. A few new features will also be integrated into the main game with the big update 2.0. So that you know exactly which changes you can look forward to even as a non-purchaser of Phantom Liberty, we have created this overview for you.

Big innovations as a free update

Via X – the former Twitter – CD Projekt Red has also commented on the topic and provided a helpful list to avoid any ambiguity.

All owners of the main game will receive these features for free with Update 2.0:

  • Newly designed skill trees and perks
  • Reworked cyberware and new capacity system
  • Fights via car and chases
  • AI improvements in battles
  • New police system
  • User interface improvements
  • Changes in Loot, Items and Crafting
  • New radio stations

These features will only be available to purchasers of the Phantom Liberty DLC:

  • The new Dogtown district
  • The new story chapter including new characters
  • New quests, boss fights, fixer gigs and more
  • Vehicle missions and air drops (dynamic events)
  • The all new Relic skill tree including fresh skills
  • Over 100 new items including weapons, cyberware, cars and clothes
  • Missile launcher for cars
  • New level cap level 60

So as you can see, even if you haven’t bought the Phantom Liberty DLC yet, there’s more than one good reason to look forward to the release of the accompanying Update 2.0!

What about you? Are you looking forward to Phantom Liberty? Will you play it directly on day 1 or do you prefer to wait for a few patches due to your painful experience? Can the numerous new features still not convince you to return to Night City? We’re eager to hear your opinion, so feel free to write it in the comments!
