Space pirates and mutant pigs beware: Apparently Beyond Good & Evil is returning as an Anniversary Edition.

The sequel may be a long time coming, but at least you’ll probably be able to play the first part again soon on the current consoles: Beyond Good & Evil is getting a 20th Anniversary Edition!

At least that’s what an entry from the US Entertainment Software Rating Board tells us. According to this, the classic game will not only be released for the PC, but also for the Switch, PS4, PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S. The game is to be released from the age of ten.

Ubisoft hasn t announced or confirmed anything yet, but the hint is quite clear. From the point of time it would also make sense, after all the game was released in November 2003 for the PS2, in December on the PC and another two months later on Xbox and Gamecube.

This wouldn’t be the first time Reporter Jade’s adventure has been remade: Back in 2011, Beyond Good & Evil was released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Where is Part 2?

Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in development since 2007, but the space pirates quickly became stranded in development hell. In 2017, a new sign of life followed in the form of a cinematic trailer at E3.

Many more ominous rumours followed until December 2022 when insider Tom Henderson reported seeing video footage. However, this was said to be in a very early state of development and barely resembled the footage shown in 2018, which you can see above. The current status is unclear.

Would you be happy to see a 20th Anniverary Edition of Beyond Good & Evil, or is that, in your eyes, little consolation that Part 2 is still not here? Which games are you still missing eagerly that were announced long ago? Maybe Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2? Or perhaps the other Ubisoft pirate game Skull & Bones? Feel free to write it in the comments!
