By Diablo standards, the community is almost euphoric after the announcement of patch 1.1.1. A few criticisms remain, however.

The atmosphere in the Diablo 4 community has been … tense. Since the big patch 1.1 was released, there is basically non-stop nagging at the actually very good action role-playing game. Now, however, the wind seems to turn slowly.

Since Blizzard published the patch notes for the upcoming patch 1.1.1 on August 2, many fans have been surprisingly optimistic. However, there are still rather negative voices as well.

We summarize here what people like and don’t like about the patch. The complete patch notes can be found here.

What the community likes

In fact, by now the optimism in the Diablo 4 community seems to at least outweigh the negative comments.

Which is saying quite a bit with such a critical fan base. But in general, there are many voices that are happy with the new patch.

(On Reddit) user USPost116, for example, is happy about improvements for the mage:

As a chain lightning mage … I’m pretty darn excited!

It’s just the fix for one of the new malevolent powers called Barber that continues to bring joy in the comments. Thus writes Ocir-

Yay, now I can actually equip the barber. Currently it doesn’t work because my teammate is a poison hunter.

Somewhat self-deprecating is also the user SlimMini10, who apparently can’t find a starting point to get upset about the patch.

SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TO BE UPSET ABOUT!

On X (that used to be Twitter), community director Adam Fletcher additionally confirmed that the patch also fixes the memory leak by popular demand – if they’re going to keep watching it, too.

The two biggest criticisms

However, with all the positive voices, it cannot be denied that there is still a lot of criticism. Or at least rather restrained reactions, one does not want to praise Blizzard obviously also too early.

Although there are of course quite subjective points of criticism depending on the player, two major points of contention have emerged:

1. too unsubtle changes to the barbarian

Even though the patch with the barbarian should actually help one of the weakest classes on the legs, many fans still show disappointment.

While the barbarian has been buffed and now gets significantly more rage, many would have liked to see his damage increased significantly as well.

The Reddit user so_long_astoria writes about:

Why do they just refuse to make meaningful changes to the barbarian class?

2. more health for boss enemies

Many players are also wondering why the patch now also increases the life of certain boss opponents. From level 60 onwards, the life points of all boss opponents have been increased, in some cases drastically.

Which is probably also a reaction to builds that melt some of them in seconds. Fans are annoyed by this, though, as more lives means just artificially dragging out boss fights.

The user Sychar is especially upset about this change:

I like the casual change at the end that bosses have twice as much life in the endgame lmao. What the hell is wrong with the developers? With every positive change we get some monkey claw that wastes time for no reason.

What’s your opinion? Are you guys more on the positive or negative side and what are the reasons? Do you have hope that Diablo 4 will be more fun again after the patch, or have you possibly never lost faith? What change would you still like to see? Post it in the comments!
