Pink and pink again. The marketing campaign for the Barbie movie is revving up in the home stretch. From dream houses to consoles to candles, there’s just about everything.

Those who like Barbie are truly getting their money’s worth at the moment. Following the recent news that there will soon be two matching cars in Forza Horizon 5, the film’s marketing is now lining more than just digital streets:

It remains unclear whether the house really belongs to the film, but it would not be surprising in any way when the effort that is otherwise expended is considered. For there are (original post by Moshe Isaacian) many more examples of the pink offensive for the upcoming cinema release, for example the Xbox console pictured above.

Console in the dream house

Microsoft, in cooperation with Mattel and Warner Bros, is releasing an Xbox Series S in a bright pink Barbie design. And it comes with its own little dream house with several floors in which you can place the console. On top of that, there’s a controller with four interchangeable faceplates.

Where can I buy the console? Unfortunately, not at all. Microsoft is only producing it for sweepstakes that will launch around its release time on the (Twitter channel of Xbox) as well as the (Microsoft Rewards

For those who would like to see more evidence of the dedication of the marketing staff, please very much this way on the digital pink carpet:

  • Candles
  • Ladies’ Shoes
  • ice cream
  • a hotel:

  • Case
  • Toys
  • Shipping from Chicago
  • and much more, which you can browse through at said link to Moshe Isaacian’s collection tweet.

Are you guys dressed in pink yet? Have you ever built a completely pink house in The Sims? Does the film or the Barbie franchise in general appeal to you? And, to take a step back from the colour pink: Do you find such far-reaching, even rampant marketing alienating? Can you think of any other examples of campaigns that feel a little out of touch? Feel free to post your opinions, thoughts and memories in the comments!
