The medieval battlefield Warhaven has been given an autumn release – but you will soon be able to test out the whole game for free

Do you still remember Warhaven? The Korean medieval brawler, in which two teams of 16 knights, archers, priests, mages and more classic fantasy archetypes each beat the crap out of each other, now has a release date.

Warhaven is scheduled for release in autumn 2023, around a year after the first Steam beta. Before that, however, you will have the opportunity to play the game for free

From 19 to 26 June the annual Steam Next Fest will take place, where you can once again test hundreds of different new games long before release, including Warhaven this time.

What kind of game is this? Warhaven is a little reminiscent of Battlefield in the Middle Ages, albeit a little smaller – or of For Honor in a larger version. Because here 32 players at the same time hit each other in game modes such as Conquest.

The focus is on close combat, where good timing of attacks and blocks as well as precise movement and positioning are worth their weight in gold. But there are also various ranged classes such as archers and mages, who support with ranged attacks and spells at a distance. In addition, there are war machines such as ballistae and cannons that you can control.

The different classes have various skills, similar to Battlefield 2024 or Overwatch. And if you fight long enough, your Ultimate bar recharges and you can transform into a particularly powerful warrior – this system is also familiar from the Star Wars Battlefield Battlefront 2.

There will be many more exciting announcements and trailers at the Xbox, Starfield and PCGaming shows. To make sure you don’t miss a single reveal, tune in to our live ticker and get up close and personal.
