At the end of the Summer Game Fest kick-off, a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was shown. This trailer showed new story and gameplay scenes.

After a long wait Square Enix finally presented news about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth during yesterday’s livestream. In this part of the series we will mainly fight our way through the overworld. Unfortunately, the size of the in-game world could not be determined from the trailer.

What we were able to find out, however, are some details about the combat gameplay. This does not seem to change much compared to the previous part – which, to be honest, is not particularly surprising.

New, however, is that Red XIII will expand the group of playable characters. While he only appeared as an NPC in the predecessor, in Rebirth he will use his claws and teeth in the heated battles.

In addition, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth looks to be a fairly substantial game. As both the end of the trailer and Geoff Keighley himself pointed out, the action game will be released on two discs exclusively for the PlayStation 5 in early 2024
