What do you think the result would be if Wes Anderson made a Star Wars movie? An AI gives an answer to that, not everyone likes it

No, Mando is not seen in the trailer immediately following – and neither is Grogu, before you ask! But many a fan probably wouldn”t have minded seeing some familiar faces in the roughly one-minute trailer called The Galactic Menagerie.

As is often the case with content created with the help of AIs, what is shown does not only cause excitement, but also displeasure. We”ll show you the video first, so you can make up your own mind:

The Grand Death Star Hotel

If you thought to yourself while watching the trailer Nanu, that unusual style looks kind of familiar! You”re probably thinking of the works of director Wes Anderson.

With films like The Grand Budapest Hotel or The French Dispatch he has made a name for himself when it comes to unique visual language. His style might not have been a walk in the park for the AI that was used either.

Even a cast is presented in the trailer: With Scarlett Johansson, Adrian Brody, Owen Wilson and Jeff Goldblum, there would be real top-class actors on board. The video is dubbed by a narrator, who in terms of speech speed and intonation is also strikingly reminiscent of an Anderson film.

Jubilation and anger are close together

In the comments under the video, fans are very divided in their reaction. Many users celebrate the Anderson style, which in their eyes is perfectly hit. One user even claims: I want to see this so much more than any contemporary official Star Wars project.

But there are also fans who criticize that this has nothing to do with their beloved Star Wars anymore. So you can find comments like this: The lack of humanity, artistry and soul is almost palpable!

Other comments complain about how soulless what is shown looks, and that there should be no AI behind a good movie, but still real people are needed, who put their heart and soul into the project.

How do you rate the trailer? Would you be happy about a Star Wars movie by Wes Anderson or does this style not fit at all into the galaxy far, far away in your fan-eyes? What do you think of the idea that an AI might even create entire movies in the future? Feel free to write us your thoughts on the subject in the comments!
