A clear sign? EA promises heaps of performance improvements for Jedi: Survivor even before release

There is still a lot of excitement around Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Already in the test version we have noticed: The actually fantastic war-of-the-stars game suffers from a lot of technical problems – especially in terms of performance. A first so-called Day Zero patch before release did not fix much, now another Day One patch on April 27th (one day before release) is supposed to fix everything. We”ll take a look at whether it does that in a timely manner.

EA is already upping the ante, however, promising weeks of updates via Twitter that will take care of these three core issues:

  • Bugs.
  • Performance issues.
  • More Accessibility.

With such a wonky test version, such an announcement can of course be read two ways:

  1. EA just wants to announce a nice service to people.
  2. EA is doing expectation management: fans should feel reassured that any technical problems at launch won”t be permanent because very regular patches will take care of them.

We simply don”t know yet how smooth the final release version will run for people out there. Even with a Geforce RTX 4090, the frame rates dropped to 30 FPS, there were big problems with asynchronous sound and the ray tracing doesn”t work as it should.

The fact that EA and Respawn want to deliver a lot of patches after release is of course a great thing in principle. From an editorial point of view, we still advise you to be careful: Wait for the final release, the final tests and the final performance checks before you spend 70 Euros on the digital or physical counter. Jedi: Survivor wouldn”t be the first and only PC game to launch in 2023 with major technical issues.
