The new update 1.12 for Hunt Showdown contains many innovations. One of them pleases not only new players, but also Witcher fans.

Hunt: Showdown wants to further deepen the playful masterpiece, but make the learning curve flatter for new players. To this end, a playable tutorial led by an NPC cowboy finds its way into the Extraction Shooter with the latest update 1.12.

And the voice of this cowboy immediately catches the ear, especially of those who know the role-playing game The Witcher 3. The speaker for the tutorial is none other than Doug Cockle, the English dubbing voice of Geralt von Riva.

Patch 1.12 also contains other important new features!

Levelling of the learning curve

All right, you”re here for Geralt, who can blame you? You can watch and listen to the cowboy with Geralt”s voice from minute 3:30 onwards at former GameStar colleague Fabian Siegismund, the YouTuber and world”s biggest collector of hunt hunters called Siegismund:

He expresses his liking for the scripted tutorial in Hunt: Showdown and especially what it is supposed to do:

This is a step-by-step guide for new players through all the elements of the game, from healing to each monster type to PvP. This is super helpful.

Crytek wants to get complete newcomers on board with the detailed help, who can quickly be overwhelmed by the complex, interlocking game mechanics. Siegismund hopes:

This should end with the new tutorial.

What else is in Update 1.12

Besides the new tutorial with Geralt-Note, Update 1.12 brings other important improvements. A few of them:

  • Four weapon variants (Centennial Shorty, Shorty Silencer, Krag Bayonet, Krag Sniper)
  • Thematic questlines (it”s about crocodiles, ouch!)
  • Balance (correction of the left peek advantage)
  • Wildcard-Playlist (at first only with the night version of the maps)
  • Solo Advantage (self-resurrection via Necromancer trait)

More details on Update 1.12 for Hunt: Showdown can be found in the article above. There we also collect the further future plans, including an upgrade to a newer version of the CryEngine. Because developer Crytek is obviously far from finished with Hunt, especially since new heads have just been hired to lead the multiplayer shooter into the future.
