A dataminer has come across hints that Steam will soon be adding a note-taking feature so that you can always take notes while playing your favourite games.

Games can be really complicated sometimes. To make sure we don’t forget which villager in Stardew Valley liked the dandelion so much again, we like to take notes of the fun the old-fashioned way on a piece of paper. The potential upcoming update to Steam now makes this step null and void.

Well, not entirely, admittedly. We can still take notes, but no longer on a piece of paper, but directly in your Steam library. Dataminer and SteamDB founder Pavel Djnudik has come across a few exciting clues, which he shares with us on Twitter.

With the new note function, you should be able to give your thoughts free rein on Steam without having to open a separate document from another provider or scribble on the paper.

The community even rumours that it might be possible to save pictures in the note system. However, it is still unclear whether all this will really happen. Steam has not yet made an official statement on this, so take this information with a grain of salt.

There’s more to come

But that’s not all: Djundik also posts that a notification system for the Steam client will be released. This would be similar to the system of the mobile app. There you can see which games are on offer on your wishlist, updates have been published or friend requests have been sent.

In the notification system, you can see which games are on offer on your wishlist, updates have been published or friend requests have been sent.
You can turn off notifications in the settings of the app, so you can probably do the same in the desktop version.

Would you look forward to an upcoming note function or do you never play with notes anyway? If you do, do you already write them completely digitally or do you prefer the old pen? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
