Since Microsoft announced the takeover of Activision Blizzard, many fans have been fearful about the future of already established brands. What will become Xbox-exclusive, what will (especially) PlayStation gamers be able to continue playing? In an interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer clarifies.

For several months, PlayStation and Xbox have been engaged in a real mudslinging match over the pre-existence of multiplatform titles. The origin of this dispute is the planned takeover of Activision Blizzard and the question of which titles will no longer be playable for PlayStation gamers in the future. In an interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer gives implicit answers to the many questions. PlayStation gamers, you can breathe easy, nothing will be taken away from you.

From the interview, the following statements can be summarised about the future of Xbox and the upcoming titles. Whether these will be realised in exactly the same way, however, is of course not set in stone:

  • Games that are already available for all platforms will continue to be available for all platforms. This includes, for example, titles such as Doom and Wolfenstein.
  • Online titles such as The Elder Scrolls Online, Call of Duty, Minecraft and Fallout will remain available for all platforms.
  • Newly announced brands such as Starfield and Redfall will remain Xbox exclusive.

In any case, it is exciting to observe that while PlayStation regularly criticises Xbox, they themselves regularly release exclusive titles or enter into exclusive deals with other companies. This can be seen, for example, in Final Fantasy XVI.
