Valheim surprises on St. Nicholas Day with the release of the new update and an animated trailer.

This time Father Christmas wears a Viking helmet: On 6 December Valheim surprises with the full release of the big Mistlands update. You can now start playing the complete expansion! Until now, the update was only playable as a beta.

While you”re at it, check out the gameplay trailer that gets you in the mood for the new landscapes, powers and creatures:

What”s in Mistlands?

New Biom: The Mistlands are Valheim”s largest and most complex biome to date. Here, mystical creatures and secrets hide in the murky twilight, just waiting to be explored by your Vikings.

New magic: You can now collect the magical energy Eitr, which comes from the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil. This gives you power over elements such as fire, ice and life force (read: necromancy) – to master it, craft special staffs.

New weapons: There are a total of nine new weapons in the update, including the new weapon type Arbalest, a heavy crossbow that bounces enemies back. Perfect if you don”t want to get too close to threatening monsters.

New friends: For the first time, there are NPCs that are friendly to you: The Dvergr are a new faction in the update.

More news: Black marble is a new resource in the Mistlands update, which you can use to build your fortresses. The fortresses of the ancient dwarves, which are hidden in the mist, are also built from this rock. Also waiting for you are two new armour sets, many furnishing objects, crafting stuff, a world boss and much more.

In order to visit the new Fog Lands, you must uncover a previously unexplored part of the map. Only then will you experience the new content of the update, so pack your axes and food and go.
