A bug with the Hexflash rune makes the rounds in League of Legends. This sometimes revives players immediately after a death.

Bugs and glitches occur frequently in League of Legends, as the game is very complex with over 150 champions, numerous items and other mechanics. Recently, however, a big problem with the Hexflash rune has been doing the rounds, because it can instantly revive players. However, it should only affect the Tournament Realm and not the live servers.

The bug appeared on Friday in matches of the League of Legends Japan League (LJL) and the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) and led to long pauses and discussions. Shortly after a player used the Hexflash rune and was eliminated as a result, he was immediately revived. Normally, the time it takes for a champion to come back increases over time, and it is not uncommon for it to take 60 seconds or more in the later stages of the game.

However, with the bug, it is possible to immediately rejoin the action in the Summoner’s Void. Teams could easily gain an unintended advantage by doing so. One of the main advantages of eliminating opposing player:s in League of Legends is a temporary outnumbering situation, but with this bug this can be cancelled out.

Riot Games already has the bug on their radar and responded to the discovery of the bug on Friday. In both the North American LoL League (LCS) and the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), the Hexflash rune was temporarily disabled to prevent exploitation of the bug. As was explained in the LEC broadcast over the weekend, the bug probably only occurs on the Tournament Realm and therefore not on the live servers, which is why there should not be any problems in ranked games.
