Bounty Star was announced at the showcase of the publisher Annapurna. What to expect in the post-apocalyptic scenario, we summarize.

You like to grow fruit and vegetables (virtually, of course), but want a change of pace now and then, preferably in the form of brutal battles? Then the newly announced Bounty Star could be just the game you like.

The unusual genre mix of farming, base building and mech battles was shown for the first time at the showcase of the publisher Annapurna. You might know it from games like What Remains of Edith Finch or the Steam hit Stray. What awaits you in the post-apocalyptic world of Bounty Star, on the other hand, is presented here.

Retired

You play former soldier Clementine McKinney, who after years of fighting would like to settle down and forget her past. A remote farm and the opportunity to work for good by providing people with food seems just the thing. But it doesn’t seem to stay quite that quiet in the wasteland, as the first trailer shows:

Fortunately, you still have your trusty combat robot, the Desert Raptor MKII, at your disposal. It can be modified with a wide variety of equipment, weapons, shields and drives. So you don’t just remain a farmer, but also hunt bounty targets in the desert on behalf of the government.

An initially run-down workshop serves as your base of operations and home, which you gradually expand. Here you plant fields, breed animals and prepare for the next battle by crafting ammunition and fuel.

(You can probably upgrade your workshop with all kinds of machines, which you supply via water and electricity lines.)

Bounty Star is scheduled for release in 2023 for the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5, though a more specific release date is not yet known. You can already add the title to your wishlist on (Steam).

What do you think of Bounty Star? Do you like the prospect of a dusty post-apocalypse, peaceful farming and exciting mech battles? Or can’t the game entice you at all? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments!
