From now on, the playable maps in CoD: Warzone will change weekly. At the beginning, three maps are available at once. But the feature could also bring technical difficulties with it.

A feature long awaited by fans has finally arrived in Call of Duty: Warzone. As of now, there is a map rotation in the shooter from Activision. The playlist of playable maps will change on a weekly basis.

This week you can take part in the Battle Royale on the maps Fortune’s Keep, Rebirth Island and Caldera. Since the map rotation was introduced with the update on 30 June 2022, the next change is expected on 7 July 2022. Developer Raven Software is responding to a large community request with this step. The community had already been calling for a map rotation since the beginning of the year, as we reported.

The introduction of map rotation is a bold move for the developers in this regard. Warzone is known for consuming a lot of memory on players’ computers and consoles. In March, Creative Lead Josh Bridge from Activision was still sceptical about the feature. “The installation and reinstallation sizes are completely insane. It’s insane,” Bridge said. Implementing a map rotation would mean another download “the size of Warzone”, the creative lead said. Read more about his concerns here.

Whether the feature will make the community happy or lead to update frustration will become clear with the coming patches.
