Gamers got their money’s worth tonight with two anniversary streams. On the one hand, Final Fantasy VII celebrated its 25th anniversary. On the other, Capcom celebrated 10 years of Dragon’s Dogma. Game Director Hideaki Itsuno looked back on the development history of the game and then officially announced Dragon’s Dogma II.

You can really see the 51-year-old Japanese’s enthusiasm. No wonder, after all, Hideaki Itsuno is the spiritual father of Dragon’s Dogma and more than proud of his work. In the retrospective video, he explains that he came into contact with high fantasy and RPGs through pen & paper games. At the same time, he has always had an enthusiasm for video games. As early as 2000, he had drawn up a rough concept for the action adventure game. But Capcom first put him in charge of developing Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3. Finally, in 2012, his hour had finally struck and Dragon’s Dogma had seen the light of day.

2013 saw the release of the Dark Arisen expansion, and since September 2020 fans have been able to stream the anime of the same name on Netflix.

Hideaki Itsuno had the best in store for the ending, though. In the form of a t-shirt, the game director announced that Dragon’s Dogma II is officially in development with in-house RE Enginge. When exactly and for which platforms the sequel will be released, however, he kept to himself.

We will keep you informed about further developments on Dragon’s Dogma II and present you with more information on Soul Hackers 2 in the meantime.
