Riot Games has commented on the consideration of a solo-only queue in a blog post. This could solve some of the issues in League of Legends.

The 2022 Ranked season didn’t go so smoothly for the players:inside in League of Legends. This has not escaped the attention of Riot Games. The developer went into more detail about the circumstance in a blog post published on Friday.

In it, competitive gameplay project manager “Codebear” and “Riru”, part of the marketing communications team, spoke about the competitive season so far and what players:inside can possibly expect in the coming months.

According to the developers, the solo and duo queue is in one of the healthiest states the team has ever seen. Riot Games looks at different factors such as progression opportunities, competitive integrity and a focus on team play when evaluating to create a set of goals that can improve the player experience.

In the flex queue, however, it looks different, which is why measures are being considered: Due to the problems of groups of three in particular, such as significantly longer waiting times and players who more often do not get their main role, Riot is thinking about turning the traditional solo/duo queue into a pure solo queue. In such a case, groups of two would have to switch to the flex cue, which in turn would benefit it.

In addition, Riot believes that this would reduce the frequency of auto-filling, eliminate boosting in the solo queue and balance the different queues. However, this change is so far only an idea being considered by the developers. Those responsible want to shed more light on the possibility of a solo-only queue before coming to a decision.
