Those who still use a Mojang account to log into Minecraft Java will soon have to take action. Because in the future, only Microsoft logins will work.

Still using your old Mojang login for Minecraft Java? That will only be possible for four more weeks, because from March these accounts will no longer be playable unless they have been transferred to a Microsoft account. We’ve summarised everything you need to know now.

Mojang logins will soon no longer be usable

Since the Minecraft brand officially belongs to Microsoft, you can choose to log in to the launcher using your Mojang account or your Microsoft account. From 10 March 2022, however, logging in will only work via a Microsoft login.

This specifically affects all players who use Minecraft Java – which is still the more popular version for many fans due to its high mod-friendliness, among other things. Minecraft Bedrock, on the other hand, has already been completely switched to Microsoft accounts.

The reason for the switch, according to the developers, is the numerous security features that already exist for Microsoft accounts and will follow in the future. Support for Mojang logins, on the other hand, will be discontinued completely. So if you want to continue playing, you have to transfer your account now.

What players need to do now

How does the transfer work?

  • Log in with your Mojang account in the Minecraft Launcher or on Minecraft.net
  • Click on “Switch my account” in the large info window
  • Request code
  • Enter confirmation code from received mail
  • Log in with your Microsoft account or create one
  • Click “Complete the move” to transfer your data

What happens after the deadline?

As of 10 March, your Mojang login will be locked. However, you can still move your account after the deadline without losing your data. Your account will then be unlocked again.

Will the worlds and save states be transferred?

Only your login will change. Once you have completed the move, all your worlds, saves and skins will remain intact.

Will Java still be supported?

The change does not affect the Java version itself. It will continue to be supported, only Mojang logins will soon be a thing of the past.

Mojang logins will soon be a thing of the past.

There is a reward

Those who have made the switch (whether before or after the deadline) will receive a cape skin as an exclusive reward.

Currently, Minecraft is picking up speed again with the new update Caves & Cliffs Part 2. In the following video, we have summarised for you what’s inside and how it plays:

The Wild update is also waiting in the wings. We think – The Wild is the best example that Minecraft is much more than the sum of its parts:
